The Partnership of councillors running Aberdeen City Council have confirmed it will propose the continued funding of the Kingswells X14 bus service when the City Council meets on 6th March to set its budget for the next year.

Kingswells, Sheddocksley & Summerhill councillor Steve Delaney said, “I am pleased to be able to announce, in advance of next week’s Budget that the Kingswells bus is set to continue”.

FirstAberdeen pulled the plug on the X40 bus service seven years ago and Aberdeen City Council has funded a bus service for Kingswells ever since.

Steve said, “When First withdrew bus services from Kingswells I was there fighting for a replacement bus service alongside local residents. I can understand the anxiety within Kingswells if people are concerned about losing their bus service again. This why myself and other members of the Partnership have given this commitment ahead of next week’s Budget.”.

The Liberal Democrat / SNP Partnership recognises the vital need for the X14 bus service. Without the bus many people would have great difficulty getting to work. Elderly people and people with disabilities would be unable to get to medical appointments, to socialise or to get out for their weekly shopping.

He continued, “The Partnership is committed to continuing support for the Kingswells bus service. It is absolutely not under threat of withdrawal. I will continue to work with colleagues in the Partnership to ensure continuance of this vital service”.
