Many of you will be familiar with the Fine Peace Cafe at Sheddocksley Baptist Church which closed for refurbishment in 2019. It was indeed renovated alongside extension works at the church but sadly it never re-opened due to covid restrictions.
Instead the church opened the Wellbeing Cafe last Autumn and they have now re-opened following the post Christmas lockdown. This great initiative offers a safe space to listen, support and signpost people over coffee and cake. Anyone who is struggling with their mental health and wellbeing is welcome to drop in for a chat but numbers are limited due to covid regulations. More information can be found here.
Local councillor Steve Delaney said, “I’m delighted to see the Wellbeing Cafe open once more. Once again Sheddocksley Baptist Church has identified a need within our community and responded positively towards providing the support needed to help people at this difficult time”.
“You don’t need to be a church member to visit the cafe. The offer of prayer is available to those who wish this but it is not obligatory and everyone, regardless of their beliefs, is made very welcome and offered a chat with a friendly volunteer”.
